[Accelerating Literacy] [Early Literacy Intervention] [About Us] [Site Map]
   To help those students who are clearly having difficulty taking the first, most important steps toward becoming successful readers and writers, teachers need specific strategies, techniques, and skills. The Early Literacy Intervention® (ELI) approach encompasses all of these, helping you to prevent first grade students who need special instruction from becoming remedial second graders.
ELI has helped thousands of students avoid years of frustration in learning how to read and write. Teachers are trained to assist students in building a balanced thinking approach to processing print. With ELI, you can help students

• develop print awareness;
• establish effective use of sound-symbol relationships;
• gain graphophonic, phonemic, semantic, and syntactic strategies; and
• develop comprehension skills.

The ELI approach and training is perfect for those who instruct students in the early stages of learning how to read, including specialists and teachers of kindergarteners and first graders. ELI offers an innovative, tutorial, one-on-one program that facilitates literacy of “at-risk” first grade students. During the tutoring period, student progress is assessed with pre- and post-tests, print awareness surveys, daily oral running records, reading and writing stage analyses, comprehension assessment, class performance, and daily parent feedback.
