"My daughter just took off when the teacher included her in the flexible reading group. Her progress was incredible."

Parent and
Teacher Comments
Of the teachers surveyed at the conclusion of a school year 88 percent agreed or strongly agreed that the AL program " . . . academically enriched students in reading and writing," and 81 percent agreed or strongly agreed that ". . . it had an overall positive effect on student performance in the regular classroom."
In another study, 96 percent of the ELI teachers agreed that students had a positive attitude about ELI. Parent surveys reported 100 percent agreement that it enriched the children's reading performance, had a positive effect on the children's self-concept, developed positive attitudes toward reading, and helped the children become more successful in school.
Parent Surveys on
Early Literacy Intervention
The parent surveys conclusively support the AL and ELI programs. Parents not only support but rave about the result gained from ELI in improving their children's reading and writing skills and from AL to provide balanced instruction and articulate assessment information all the way to sixth grade. Following are a few excerpts from the surveys:

"We're very fortunate Gerrod was selected to be in ELI! It made the difference!"

"I feel the ELI program has really helped Trisha. She loves to read to me each night, and it has also helped me to get into a habit of reading with her each night, which I didn't do before."

"I am so glad my child participated in this reading program. When she entered first grade she knew only a few words. Now after ELI she is reading!"
"[My son] really enjoyed this program. He was excited to read every day so he could get new books."
"ELI is the most exciting program I've been in during my 23 years of teaching." Kathy B., First-Grade Teacher
"Corey's reading has greatly improved because of the program. He has more confidence now: He reads signs, boxes of food in the store, etc. He just cannot get enough things to read now."
