Parents
provide their children On the space below, record ideas from the videos and/or workshop. These activities provide the foundation for a child to successfully accept and understand reading and writing instruction once he or she begins school. A child is developmentally ready to begin formal reading and writing instruction, usually in kindergarten or first grade, after he or she has developed sufficient concepts about print. This base of knowledge and understanding of print is acquired through literacy experiences that occur between birth and five years of age. |

Parents provide their children with the foundation of literacy by involving them in natural, daily experiences in listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
